General Accountant
Performs accounting functions such as budget analysis, financial accounting, or cost accounting and possesses an understanding of general accounting methods, principles and a basic understanding of the business.
Processes non-cash transactions and accurate reporting of employee wages and tax deductions.
Ensures accurate and timely filing of quarterly and annual federal or local government returns and wage information
Duties & Responsibiliti
es:
- Supports accounting activities associated with maintaining control of accounts, records and for the development of reports in the following areas: disbursements, expenses, tax payment, income, financial accounting, and/or cost accounting.
- Assists in monthly analysis and reconciliation
s of balance sheet accounts, prepares reports and verifies accuracy.
- Compiles data pertaining to spending for existing contracts.
- Performs daily and monthly financial and accounting transactions with the general ledger system.
- Assists with investigation into daily accounting issues where procedures may not be well defined.
- Assists in the preparation, consolidation, and review monthly, quarterly and annual tax returns for moderately complex accounts, for direct and indirect taxes.
- Assists in confirming payments, reconciling payments to withholding, and researching discrepancies.
- Files quarterly and/or annual returns and amended returns.
- Assists in processing adjustments and issuing corrected employee annual income tax reporting forms for assigned functions or smaller business units.
- Assists in reviews of local government withholding tax audit reports and audits of local government withholding tax annual returns for assigned functions or smaller business units.
- Provides basic tax support to various departments and outside vendors and forwards complex issues appropriately.
- Responds to local government issues accurate and timely with management guidance.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Essential requirements
University/Bachelor Degree or Equivalent
2 years of related experience
Proficiency in English – Verbal and Written Communication
Expert user of Microsoft Office
Good working knowledge of SAP
Desirable Requirements
Master's Degree
High Level Spanish Language – Verbal and Written Communication
